Zone
There are three types of zones, contested zones, supply zones, and hostile zones.
Contested zones
If a player is tagged while they are in a contested zone, they have 6 seconds to leave the zone. If they do not leave the zone, they will start being tagged by the zone until either they leave the zone, or they run out of tags.
Players accumulate zone time while they are in contested zones. The amount of zone time a player has accumulated throughout the game is reported in the tag summary packet.
Contested zones send out a zone beacon signature with the zone type set to 10. Beacons are sent every 500ms.
Contested zones are always neutral and cannot be associated with a team. If the team number is set in the zone beacon, the beacon will be ignored by the taggers.
Supply zones
Supply zones can unneutralize players and refill tags. When used with the LTAR hosting protocol, supply zones can also refill reloads and refill shields. The settings in the announce game packet determine which functions are enabled. If supply zones are set to refill tags, players in the zone regain one tag approximately every 15 seconds.
Players do not accumulate zone time while they are in supply zones.
Supply zones send out a zone beacon signature with the zone type set to 11. Beacons are sent every 500ms.
Supply zones can either be neutral or they can be be associated with a team. Neutral supply zones affect players on all teams. Team supply zones only affect players of that team. If the "zones can be associated with teams" bit in the announce game packet was not set and the team number is set in the zone beacon, the zone will not affect players.
Hostile zones
Hostile zones tag players while they are in the zone.
Players do not accumulate zone time while they are in hostile zones.
Hostile zones send out a tag signature with the team and player number set to one of the values below.
- T0:P05 (00100) Neutral
- T0:P06 (00101) Team 1
- T0:P07 (00110) Team 2
- T0:P08 (00111) Team 3
Hostile zones do not send out zone beacons.
Hostile zones can either be neutral or they can be be associated with a team. If the "zones can be associated with teams" bit in the announce game packet was not set, then only neutral hostile zones will affect players. If the "zones can be associated with teams" bit was set, then neutral hostile zones will not affect players and team hostile zones will only affect players on other teams.
